Being that I'm a local resident, there are a few more things I feel I should share. I guess I really didn't know where else to put these little tidbits.

another tip from a local: The best time of year to visit the Emerald Coast is October. It's still very warm outside, yet not blistering hot. The Gulf water has had all summer to warm itself. The sunsets are even more beautiful this time of year. And, perhaps most importantly, the majority of the tourists have left and it's not as crowded as it is during the summer months.
another tip from a local: Another great time of year to visit is for the 4th of July. We might be a vacation destination, but before that, we're a small town kind of place. We know how to do fireworks the right way! And what better place to watch fireworks than next to the Gulf or bay, watching all the light reflect off the water.
